Antique ring ruby and diamond cluster 18kt yellow gold

This is an 18kt. yellow gold ring, cluster style, set with deeply colored red rubies and old rose cut diamonds. A ring like this would have been reserved for evening wear due to being set with important diamonds. Its lighter qualities indicate this is a late piece. 

Notice the gold work of the shoulders. It is an example of the replicated styles from ancient jewelry. Excavations in the mideast gave the Victorian jewelers samples of quite rare gold work.
